ACCREDITED COURSE ON
NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Africa Land-Use Training offers an AgriSETA accredited course on Natural Resource Management (NQF level 4). The course can be presented to groups at one of our venues or at a venue of your choice in your region. Please contact us to arrange a course for your group or for more information. Groups between 10 and 30 are accepted.
AIM OF THE COURSE
The course aims to train the learner on the basic principles and practices needed for sustainable natural resources management, such as grazing lands (veld) and water resources.
The duration of the course is one week (5 days). The time is spent on theoretical training during the morning sessions and practical field work and demonstrations during the afternoon sessions.
Learners will be assessed for competency using specific unit standard outcomes and assessment criteria. Learners found competent will receive certificates under the jurisdiction of AgriSETA and SAQA. This course is based on the following Unit Standard (US):

The course content is based on the above mentioned SAQA unit standard. The presentation of the course is divided into four phases, namely;
Phase 1 – Introduction to natural resource management
This phase gives an introduction to the importance of natural resources and an overview of relevant South African legislation.
Phase 2 – The natural resources
This phase gives an introduction to the natural resources important in agriculture. The main natural resources discussed include soil and geology, vegetation, water and climate.
Phase 3 – Natural resource management principles and practices
This phase looks at the important principles that need to be understood to effectively manage natural resources. It also includes important natural resource management practices needed for sustainable natural resource utilisation on the farm.
Phase 4 – Natural Resource Management plans and schedules
This phase looks at natural resource management plans and programs that can be used to assist the land user throughout the year to improve natural resource management on the farm.
